Emirates Greeks website has been developed with the
aim of providing a forum focused on the needs of the
Greek and Cypriot communities in the United
Arab Emirates and neighbouring countries.
We hope to provide useful
information, advice and support to the growing Greek
and Greek-speaking population
in the region.
Readers are encouraged
to contribute with suggestions and feedback.
Emirates
Greeks started as a Yahoo group
in 2003. After the
introduction of this website, the Yahoo
group became less active
and eventually it was replaced by the website itself.
Hrach Kalsahakian, founder
and editor, is an active supporter of the
community with many years of involvement.
Through his previous occupation
at the Greek Embassy in
Abu Dhabi (2000-2005)
and as marketing manager
at the Cyprus Tourism Organisation's
regional office in Dubai since 2005, he is in an excellent position to provide
news, information and advice to
the readers.
He is able to
leverage his knowledge of Greece,
Cyprus and the
Middle East, to forge close ties with the
community as a whole.
Eugenia Papadopoulos,
consultant, is known to many community members from her long
residence in the UAE and her active involvement in
the Emirates Greeks social networking. Even though
she is relocated
now to Cyprus, she continues
to have close links with the UAE. Being a Human Resource
Professional,
Consultant and Trainer, Eugenia has often been
called upon for advice on any
business and employment related
matters.
