:. Greek School in UAE

Sent by: George Nikitaidis

Hi, my name is George Nikitaidis.

I'm an architect, I've just arrived few months ago.

I would like to know anything about the Greek school in UAE: Phone number, e-mail or a web site.

Also I need to know about the Greek Community and to be informed about all the activities of the greeks in UAE.

19 April 2008

Greek lessons are offered in the UAE to all those interested to learn Greek, espcially to children who would like to keep pace with the educational requirements in Greece.

Registrations are usually made in September each year. An announcement is posted in our website indicating registration timings and locations.

The Ministry of Education in Greece has appointed teachers to teach Greek in the UAE. You can contact the teachers directly (e.g. in Dubai: Mary Loukaki at 050 2111682). You can also contact Marina Nikolopoulou from the Greek School Parents' Committee: 050 6593962
Due to the increased demand of the Greek lessons, along with the diversified groups of both children and adults (and the need of teaching the language in several locations: Dubai, Sharjah, Fujairah and Abu Dhabi), the  Ministry of Education in Greece has appointed a second teacher for the school year 2007-2008 (Dimitrios Kafetzis) who will be working with the Hellenic Council to meet the local requirements.

For the first time this year the examinations to obtain the internationaly approved Certificate for the "Attainment of the Greek Language" (Pistopoiissi Ellinomatheias) are available in Dubai. The students will seat the exams in May 2008 (Hellenic Council - Examination Centre number 97002). The lessons take place at the Universal American School (Festival City) and at DUCTAC in the Mall of Emirates.

For more information you can contact Daphne Saccopoulos at the Hellenic Council (E-mail:

In Abu Dhabi Nikos Karantalis has been the Ministry appointed teacher for the last 5 years (since 2003). Lessons are conducted in the premises of the Embassy. Nikos is planning to return back home and soon there would be a new teacher in Abu Dhabi. You can contact the Embassy for further developments.
