Cypriot producers and merchants will have a series of meetings with representatives of an import company from the United Arab Emirates, in the framework of the effort of the Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment Ministry to open new markets for agriculture products.

Cyprus' agriculture products were also hit by the Russian embargo and there is a need for new markets with a view to develop the island's agricultural sector, competent Minister Nicos Kouyialis has said.

According to an official press release, Kouyialis met on Friday with representatives of the UAE import company.

In statements after the meeting, he noted that the aim is to establish a long lasting cooperation in the fields of citrus, potatoes, aquaculture products, fresh vegetables and dairy products, so that Cyprus can export its agricultural products to Arab countries and to the countries of the Persian Gulf.  (KYPE)
